Spies

We've been learning about the art of espionage in our home for Social Studies. This correlates with our Bible lessons which right now are on the spies that went into Jerico to spy out the land.
The children have really enjoyed this chapter. I have assigned them everyday a different person in our household to spy on and their job is to be unnoticed and report to me without anyone knowing who told on who, what. They get paid a nickel for any true intelligence report.
We've also learned about codes like morse code and acronyms and the beginnings of the alphabet. They have designed their own spy language to communicate with me. I can tell you they are having a ball with this. They've learned about the "dead drops," the CIA, KGB, and FBI.

I've also learned a few things too. It became real evident to me that one should value loyalty. Many spies were either very loyal or very greedy. Some were blackmailed into sevice while others offered their services for lots of money. The love of money truly is the root of all evil, and many will sell their souls for it.

Our next Bible lesson is on how that we are spied on everyday by Satan and his cohorts. He is a subtle and intelligent spy. He is in the blackmailing and recruiting business. He checks our actions and watches carefully to see if we have a price.
