Innocent Mix-ups

Here's another amusing memory for the books-

While practicing violin, the 8yr. old noticed his piece called Ode the Joy was written by Beethoven. He was pretty pleased with himself when he exclaimed,

"Oh, isn't he the one who said -
Romeo, Romeo let down your hair?"

At least I know he has been exposed to the Fine Arts of Literature and Music.

Shakespeare

8 yr. old asks 10 yr. old, as we hurriedly walk down the hall at church, trying to get to the sanctuary on time.
"Do you know why Shakespeare was so intense?"

This (a bit) stressed mother wonders, "Why?"

He responds with, "Because he drank too much coffee."

I thought I'd better get that down before I forget.

Hairy

Today, 7yr. old was observing his arm during math and noticed quite a bit of hair on it. He'll be 8 yrs. old Saturday. So he's growing up on me.

"Oh, no. I'm getting hairy arms!"

Then he asked, "Mommy, what's the name of the guy in the Bible who was hairy and sold his birth certificate?"

9yr. old and I couldn't help but look at each other. Does this strike you funny?
It did us. He wasn't quite sure at first what was so funny. Esau sold his birthright not his birth certificate!

Times when they make me laugh....

Fall 2008:

9 yr. old asks,"I wonder what could be making Mommy nauseous?"
7 yr. old responds with, "I think it was that soup you made about six weeks ago, Mom."
(His timing is exceptionally good.)

What did you think about P.E at co-op today?(P.E. is optional and starts 1 hr. before co-op begins)
7 yr. old says," Boring, all we did is Duck-Duck Goose."
9yr. old responds with, "All we had time to do was Duck-Duck Goose!"
(We have yet to make it to the beginning of P.E. but maybe the 5yr. would enjoy it too. She would never have said that.)

3yr. telling me why she loves her 1 yr. old but doesn't love her sister while her sister keeps interrupting, "She hit me and hit me and hit me....excuse me 5yr. old...she hit me and hit me and hit me....excuse me 5yr. old......She hit me, and hit me...." You get the idea don't you? By the way, it is the 3 yr. old that you'd better beware of.

9yr. was spreading some jam on his toast and tends to eat jam with bread instead of bread with jam so I cautioned him with, "Be conservative about the jam." He looked at me kind of confused and said," What does politics have to do with jam?"

Perhaps, I'll keep updating these kind of posts as I they come up.
