Can we say, "Does he bite?"

My mom brought the kids a bug today. A big bug today! She found it and at first thought it was dead. Since we've had an insect collection in the past she thought the children would enjoy taking up this new pet.

We've hosted some interesting insects - Praying mantises, eggs that became big caterpillars and then cocooned , Katydids, crickets, grasshoppers, cicadas, and now a Rhinoceros Beetle.

The best learning is active learning. It's the kind the mind seems to record best. No doubt they will never forget this one. Beetles are insects. This one is as big as about 3/4 of your finger, eats leaves, and is horned. We've put it in a 10 gallon aquarium with dirt, a few plants, a stick or two, and a rock.
