I woke up thinking about Peter. Maybe I was thinking about Peter because I was thinking about our 7 yr. old. Maybe I was thinking about Peter because it draws me to God to know how much He cares. It draws me, no matter what, to a place where I can talk to God.
Luke 22:31-32
And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
Jesus said this to Peter, but it rings in my heart! Then He said something I'm not quite sure about. "..when thou art converted.."
What did He mean? Was Peter not saved yet? Converted means to turn about, change. He was a follower, but not converted? Does it mean he was not born-again yet? There is so much hope then for my children. For those sincerely seeking after God and His righteousness.
He said these things to Peter right before Gethsemane happened. Before He denied the Lord. The picture in my mind of the divine eyes of Jesus looking at Peter as He denied Him. I picture the eyes and I feel Peter's regret, his grief at disappointing the Lord. He tried so hard to be a good disciple! Full of faith, asking the Lord to help him to walk on the water.
Satan wished to destroy him, but Jesus prayed for Him. What a friend we have in Jesus! That our Lord would pray to the Father for us. That He would remember us like He did Peter.
Mark 16:7
But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
It wasn't until the book of Acts that Peter begins to strengthen the brethren. Somewhere between the time where he wept bitterly and the upper room, Peter became converted. He was fixed on the eyes that looked upon Him and couldn't removed them from His heart. Because he had found the Saviour. He had found God. I don't ever want to forget the eyes that looked within me like Peter ,because when He looks at you like He looked at Peter you can never be the same again.
