I've heard this statement more times than I care to count, and often wondered if the person asking wasn't busy with their life also. I just happen to occupy mine with children.
Yesterday, someone asked, "How do you do it? You must have good kids." Well, yes. I think they are good kids, but this got me thinking so I thought I'd compile a list of TIPS on how I do it.
Tip #1- Switch from blinds to shades. As a matter of fact, don't ever get blinds. This way you never have to clean them.
Tip #2-3-4- Hold them when needed, Love them when needed, Spank them when needed.
Tip #5- Don't worry about baseboards, they'll get done eventually. This goes for everything else that you just haven't been able to do because they needed to be held, loved, or disciplined.
Tip #6- Tell them a joke every once in a while. Then laugh, and laugh(even if it's a fake laugh) Laugh. It will get funny. Really.
Tip #7- Sing to them. If you don't know the words, make them up.
Tip #8- Keep them busy..learning time, give them play time, then give them chore time, then give them playtime, then give them book time...well you get the idea.
Tip #9- Have more than one child at least 2 years apart. This way they'll be able to play, read, argue, cry, love, live together.
Tip #10- Close your eyes while you hug them close and take a big whiff. Then let them go. This has a sudden affect that you wouldn't trade for a million dollars.
Well, that's all for now. My answer to our friend's question was, "I had time to adjust. God send them one at a time." Jimmy's hoped for twins at times. That's where I ask, "How would I manage?" He says,"Nah.., that wouldn't happen to us. It doesn't run in the family." That gives me a bit of comfort...

if it's rainy or snowy and cold, put on jazzy music and dance around.
Talk to them! Talk to them like they're real people and not 'just' children...
just some of my tips....
Yes I too get the how do you do it question. I've homeschooled our five from the beginning and our oldest is in high school and the youngest is three. Basically I just tell people that it is the grace of God. Some people nod with a vacant stare as if they never considered God as the source of a Christian mom's strength and for others their eyes light up as they realize that with God all things are possible.
What a great post!!! I'm enjoying reading your blog from the start.
